For the record: After eight straight losses, New Mexico got its first victory of the season Saturday, 34-31 over Wyoming. The Lobos are 1-4 in the Mountain West Conference.

Streaking: Sophomore receiver Ty Kirk has catches in 18 of 19 career games, including five catches for 91 yards and a touchdown this season against Colorado State.

Who’s hot: In his first start, freshman quarterback Stump Godfrey completed 16-of-20 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns in the victory over Wyoming. He added 69 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Who’s not: New Mexico’s scoring defense hasn’t been stout, allowing 42 points per game. That average ranks last among Mountain West Conference teams and 118th out of 120 in the nation.

Key stat: The Lobos have gone back-to-back games without a turnover. They last played consecutive games without a turnover in 2005.

FYI: Sophomore tight end Lucas Reed has found the end zone. He has four touchdown catches in the last three games and five for the season.
