DENVER—Secretary of State Bernie Buescher has ordered a hand recount in five western Colorado counties where unaffiliated Rep. Kathleen Curry campaigned as a write-in candidate.
Ballots won’t be certified in the three-way race to represent House District 61 until Nov. 26.
After the election Tuesday, Curry had 9,001 votes, trailing the front-runner, Democrat Roger Wilson, by 495 votes. Republican Luke Korkowski had 8,892 votes.
Last week, a judge ordered that 2,001 “undervotes” be inspected. Some voters wrote in Curry’s name but didn’t mark the box next to it. Others didn’t vote at all.
