A 72-year-old woman was taken to a hospital and a man was arrested Tuesday after the man allegedly backed his minivan into the woman and dragged her about 30 feet.
Joshua Nichols, 25, was at American Iron and Metal at 3390 Drennan Industrial Loop in southeast Colorado Springs dropping off a load of scrap metal, police said. Witnesses told police he backed his red minivan into the victim and then drove forward, dragging her across the yard.
Nichols got out of the van, unloaded the scrap and left, apparently never realizing what had happened. A witness called 911 at about 4 p.m.
The victim was taken to an area hospital with “multiple fractures.” She is in stable condition.
Police contacted Nichols and arrested him on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault. He was taken to the El Paso County jail. Bond has not been set.
