For the record: Wyoming (2-8, 0-7 Mountain West) lost 42-16 on Saturday at UNLV. The Cowboys need to beat Colorado State or they will finish without a league win for the first time since 2001.

Streaking: Wyoming has lost six in a row since winning 20-15 at Toledo on Oct. 2.

Who’s hot: Sophomore running back Alvester Alexander ranks sixth in MWC rushing, averaging 58.6 yards a game. His 72-yard TD run 19 seconds into the UNLV game gave Wyoming a short-lived 7-0 lead.

Who’s not: Cowboys’ red- zone offense trails the MWC with 20 scores in 31 situations.

Key stat: Cowboys netted 273 yards against a UNLV team that had been giving up 437.2.

FYI: Wyoming freshman running back Robert Herron was released from a Las Vegas hospital Sunday morning after he was kept for observation following a concussion late in Saturday’s game. . . . The Cowboys have never recovered from a schedule that included four teams ranked in the top 10 at one time this season. . . . This will be the season finale for both teams, because neither had a bye week. CSU has won four of the last six in the series.
