“Get Fit at the Garden: A Walk for Wellness”

Wednesday: Garden of the Gods offers a weekly fitness walk Wednesday mornings. Participants can choose a 1-, 2- or 3-mile walk. Meet at 9 a.m. in the Red Rocks Room. Wear appropriate shoes and bring a hat, water and sunscreen. A reception with a free snack will be held in the Visitor Center Cafe. Walks continue through November. Opens Thursday: The American Mountaineering Museum and American Alpine Club Library present the “Alpine Styles” art exhibit opening Thursday with a free reception featuring music and refreshments at 6 p.m. Works focusing on climbing and mountaineering are included. Emilie Lee, Jamie Givens and Keith Svihovec are a few of the contributing artists. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, until 6 p.m. Saturday and by appointment on Monday. Fit For Fire 5K Walk/Run

Sunday: The Friends of the Denver Fire Department and the Denver Fire Fighters Burn Foundation have partnered with the Denver Fire Department’s Wellness Division for this benefit 5K Walk/Run. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Race time is 9 a.m., Kids Fun Run begins at 10 a.m. Registration fees are $30 adults, $25 youth 17 and under, $25 seniors 65 and over. All fees are an additional $5 on race day. A family expo with antique fire trucks, the Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado and entertainment is included. Turkey Day 5K Family Fun Run

Nov. 25: The Chamber of Commerce of Highlands Ranch presents the seventh annual Turkey Day 5K Family Fun Run. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., the race is at 9 a.m. The Kids Fun Run follows at 10 a.m. Post-race activities include an awards ceremony and refreshments. Polar Plunge

Dec. 4: The third annual Polar Plunge benefits Special Olympics Colorado. All ages (those under 18 require parent or guardian signature) are invited to take a dip in Chatfield Reservoir. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $85 in pledges to receive the official “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge t-shirt. Plungers can take the jump on their own or form a Plunge Team. Yoplait’s Save Lids to Save Lives

Through Dec. 31: Yoplait will donate 10 cents to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure for every pink lid sent in by Dec. 31. Yoplait has donated more than $25 million to the breast-cancer cause the past 12 years. Visit for more information.
