It’s no secret Colorado Trout Unlimited wants to protect our rivers. Now the organization is hoping for an even more overt broadcast of its message by introducing a bill to the 2011 legislative session proposing the creation of a “Protect Our Rivers” license plate.

In order to introduce the bill, CTU needs 3,000 signatures by the end of November. Should the bill be introduced and passed, Colorado residents will be able to obtain the tags featuring snowcapped peaks separated by a mountain stream and the “Protect Our Rivers” message by making a one-time, tax-deductible donation of $25 to CTU.

The money will be used to help CTU fulfill its mission of protecting, conserving and restoring Colorado’s rivers by funding on-the-ground restoration projects, youth conservation education programs, and river advocacy. All funds will be allocated to projects and programs in Colorado. Signing the petition does not require purchase of the license plates.
