AAA Colorado announced Tuesday that it expects more than 3 million travelers to take a trip of at least 50 miles for the Thanksgiving holiday in the Mountain States region.
The increase will be about 10.7 percent over 2009 for travelers in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho and Montana. Nationally, 42.2 million Americans will travel during the Thanksgiving holiday, an 11.4 percent increase from 2009.
The automobile remains the dominant mode of transportation for holiday travel, used by 93 percent of Mountain States travelers.
