More than 500 people turned out for Visit Denver’s annual membership meeting Tuesday morning for an industry update and awards ceremony.
Richard Scharf, president and chief executive of Visit Denver, said the city’s tourism industry has rebounded, with lodging-tax collections up 9.5 percent year to date. Events such as the Denver Art Museum’s King Tut exhibit and the Museum of Nature & Science’s “Body Worlds” exhibit helped bring visitors, he said. Among the award winners:

Mile High Energy Awards: Larry DiPasquale, Epicurean Culinary Group; Colin and Terry Spencer, Colin Spencer Productions.
Visit Denver Employee of the Year: Erin Ross, executive assistant to the president and chief executive.
