OGDEN, Utah—Damian Lillard scored 25 points and Weber State beat Colorado Christian in the Wildcats’ home opener Tuesday night.
Lillard, the Big Sky Conference’s reigning MVP and leading returning scorer, hit a 3-pointer, a pair of free throws and a breakaway dunk to give Weber State (1-1) a 26-point lead with just over seven minutes remaining. The Wildcats stretched it to a game-high 27-point margin four minutes later to cruise to victory.
Colorado Christian (0-1) got a game-high 13 points from sophomore guard Jeff Jefferson off the bench.
Weber State used an 11-0 run to open the second half to get some separation from the Cougars after leading 31-30 at the break.
Sophomore guard Scott Bamforth came off the bench to score 20 points, hitting 4 of 7 from 3-point range. Guard Lindsey Hughey added 14 points and center Trevor Morris had 13 for the Wildcats.
