CLINTON, Ark. — Authorities say a man convicted last month of traveling from Colorado and murdering his wife has escaped from the Van Buren County jail.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said Rodney Lee Jones escaped Wednesday morning. Jones is serving a life prison sentence without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors said during Jones’ trial that he drove from Colorado to Van Buren County in September 2008 and shot 33-year-old Orzona Fischer to death as she cut her new husband’s hair.
