Medical-marijuana dispensaries in El Paso County appear to have survived by a narrow margin.
In updated vote totals released Wednesday by the El Paso County clerk’s office, county Question 1A, which would ban dispensaries in unincorporated parts of the county, was failing by 892 votes. The results won’t be official until Friday but they are not expected to change enough to alter the outcome.
The win for medical-marijuana advocates is their most prominent bright spot in an election year that saw dispensary bans approved in Aurora, Broomfield, Loveland and unincorporated parts of Douglas County, among other jurisdictions. Voters gave dispensaries the green light in Alamosa, Eagle and Park counties, among other places.
