BATON ROUGE, La. — The Shaw Group Inc. says it will take a fiscal-first- quarter charge as the result of a lawsuit involving Xcel Energy.
Shaw received a split jury verdict in a suit against Xcel over the utility’s coal-fired power project in Pueblo.
Shaw, which built the Comanche Unit 3 plant, says that although it will receive $40 million from Xcel for delay and disruption costs it suffered, the jury also found Shaw owes Xcel damages. Shaw said it is weighing an appeal.
“Xcel is extremely pleased with the jury’s verdict,” said company spokesman Tom Henley.
