A carjacking Thursday night in Arvada left a driver wounded by gunfire and an assailant at large.
The victim’s name was not released. He was rushed to a local hospital.
Police said the carjacker got into a Chevy Tahoe stopped at a red light, then shot the driver during a struggle. The shooting happened about 5 p.m. at Wadsworth Boulevard and West 77th Avenue.
After the assault, the carjacker ran to a white sedan and left, police said. Neither his description nor the victim’s condition has been released.
Wadsworth Boulevard was closed for more than two hours while police investigated.
