The victim shot in Thursday night’s attempted carjacking in Arvada remains hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries and the suspect remains at large, according to police.

Police said the carjacker got into a Chevy Tahoe stopped at a red light, then shot the driver during a struggle. The shooting happened about 5 p.m. at Wadsworth Boulevard and West 77th Avenue.

After the assault, the carjacker ran to a white sedan and left, police said.

Arvada Police Department spokeswoman Susan Medina said that although police are continuing to investigate the incident as an attempted carjacking, they are looking into the possibility that the suspect and victim knew eachother.

The name of the victim has not been released, and police did not release a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information can call the Arvada Police at 720-898-6900.
