DENVER—Anthony Maiani’s goal at 7:10 of the third period lifted Denver to a 4-2 win over Bemidji State on Saturday and a sweep of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.

Denver (8-4-2, 7-2-1) trailed 2-1 after one period. Nick Shore tied it for the Pioneers late in the second period and assisted on Maiani’s game-winner. Jason Zucker added an empty-net goal with 44 seconds left.

David Makowski staked the Pioneers to a 1-0 lead with a goal early in the first period, but Sam Rendle and Ian Lowe answered in a span of 49 seconds to give the Beavers (2-7-1, 2-7-1) the lead.

Denver freshman goalie Sam Brittain made 20 saves, while Beavers goalie Mathieu Dugas had 19 stops. The Pioneers outshot Bemidji State 29-15.

Denver won Friday’s series opener 3-1 and is 7-0-0 all-time against Bemidji State.
