Adams State won the men’s (10-kilometer) and women’s (6K) cross country races Saturday at the NCAA Central Regional in Wayne, Neb. Colorado Mines’ Ben Zywicki won the men’s race in 31 minutes, 3.37 seconds, just 0.01 ahead of Western State’s Sean Brown (31:03.38). Adams State’s Kristen McGlynn took home the women’s individual honor in 20:53.04.
Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams that qualified for the NCAA championships Dec. 4 in Louisville, Ky., are Adams State (men and women), Western State (men and women), Colorado Mines (men) and Metro State (men). Nebraska-Kearney’s Tanner Fruit and Al Sanabria and Mesa State’s Alexis Skarda also qualified as individuals.
Rose inks name in CC record book.
Nick Rose of the Colorado College men’s basketball team scored 33 points to become the 16th player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points, but the Tigers dropped a 90-74 decision to Lewis & Clark at Reid Gymnasium in Colorado Springs.
Rose reached the milestone on the first of two free throws with 3:37 remaining in the second half. By the end of the game, he passed five former Tigers on his climb to 13th on the program’s career scoring list. It was the eighth time Rose has scored 30 or more points in a game.
UNC topples CSU.
The Northern Colorado swimming and diving team had arguably its best win since moving to Division I, defeating Colorado State at the CSU Invitational 925-813. The Bears won nine of the 17 events and had two of the top 10 times in school history.
