AURORA — The Colorado High School Activities Association announced its 22nd Hall of Fame class, which will be inducted Jan. 19 at the Red Lion Hotel Denver Southeast:
Bob Bledsoe, Erie: Bledsoe, pictured, has posted a 335-61 record over the past 15 years as softball coach for the Tigers, who won Class 4A in their first attempt last month and 11 times total. He has significant coaching tenure — basketball (32 years), baseball (seven), track and field (25), football (13) and volleyball (10),
Vic Garcia, Lewis-Palmer: Player, coach, mentor and advocate of soccer, his boys and girls teams (programs he started for the school) compiled nearly 250 victories, qualified for the state playoffs 12 times and won eight league championships and a state title (1994 boys). He was national high school coach of the year in 1991.
Charlotte Jorgensen, Wray: A local pioneer in girls basketball, her teams went 141-18 and won four consecutive Class AA state titles (1976-79). The 1976 title was the first awarded by CHSAA in girls basketball.
Leslie Moore, Denver Public Schools: A former city district athletic director, she was the first female president in CHSAA history (1996-98) and worked in the DPS for more than 35 years, also serving as a coach and administrator.
Bill Noxon, Fruita Monument: He coached football and baseball at Grand Junction and Fruit Monument, compiled a record of 133-54-4 (.707) with one state championship and five second-place finishes over 19 years.
John Stearns, Thomas Jefferson: The three-sport star for Thomas Jefferson went on to the University of Colorado, where he was an all-Big Eight safety in 1972 and the second draft choice overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in 1973.
Mead boys basketball: The Bulldogs were Class B state champions in 1957 and unique for five Newton brothers who helped lead the state championship team.
