DENVER—George O’Malley, director of Colorado State Parks for 24 years from 1962 to 1986, has died. He was 95.

The Denver Post reports that O’Malley died Oct. 31 at Porter Hospice.

While state parks director, O’Malley oversaw the creation of Cherry Creek, Chatfield, Golden Gate and Roxborough state parks. The Roxborough visitor’s center bears his name.
