HONOLULU — The parents of Colt Brennan said the former University of Hawaii quarterback is sedated and in stable condition.

Terry and Betsy Brennan released a statement Monday saying the former walk-on at the University of Colorado “is not in the best of shape” after Friday’s car crash.

Brennan, 27, suffered broken ribs and injuries to his left collarbone and head. He was a passenger in an SUV that crossed a highway centerline and collided head-on with a sedan driven by a 47-year-old woman.

• Boston College running back Montel Harris, the nation’s 11th- leading rusher with an average of 113 yards per game, will miss Saturday’s game against Syracuse after undergoing knee surgery.

Cam Newton of Auburn, Andrew Luck of Stanford and Kellen Moore of Boise State are the finalists for the Maxwell Award, which goes to the best player in college football, and the Davey O’Brien Award, which honors the top quarterback.

Finalists for the Bednarik Award, which goes to the best defensive player, are Clemson end Da’Quan Bowers, Auburn tackle Nick Fairley and LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson.

The Doak Walker Award finalists for best running back are Oregon’s LaMichael James, Wisconsin’s John Clay and Oklahoma State’s Kendall Hunter, and the finalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the top receiver, are Oklahoma State’s Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma’s Ryan Broyles and South Carolina’s Alshon Jeffrey.

Heat’s Haslem facing surgery

MIAMI — Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem, whose 8.2 rebounds per game are tops among NBA reserves, will have surgery today to repair a badly torn ligament in his left foot. The Heat will not know how long Haslem will be out until after the surgery.

• NBA players’ association executive director Billy Hunter said he is “99 percent sure” there will be a lockout next summer.

“I think it’s highly probable that there will be a lockout, and that’s what I’m preparing for because I don’t see anything else right now,” Hunter said.

• The family of a 2-year-old boy was posing for pictures in a luxury suite high inside the Staples Center when he managed to scale a clear safety barrier and fell about 30 feet to his death, police said.

Lucas Anthony Tang suffered head injuries Sunday when he landed on rows of seats minutes after the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Golden State Warriors 117-89, police said. The boy died at a hospital.
