TAMPA, Fla. — Bruins center Marc Savard, sidelined with post-concussion symptoms, might soon resume full-contact workouts.

Savard is scheduled for extensive tests today with a specialist who could clear him to participate in all on-ice drills. He practiced with his teammates for the second time Monday.

Savard, who suffered a concussion March 7 when he was hit from behind by Pittsburgh’s Matt Cooke, was sidelined until a second-round playoff series against Philadelphia. He missed all of training camp before this season because of post-concussion symptoms.

“Feeling like myself, again,” Savard said. “There’s still work to put in. It’s still going to be a bit away from, obviously, playing games.”

Also, left wing Marco Sturm, out with a right knee injury, has resumed practicing. He was hurt in the opener of last season’s Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Flyers.

Niedermayer out two weeks

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sabres forward Rob Niedermayer will miss at least two weeks after having surgery to relieve a buildup of fluid in a knee that’s nagged him since September.

Coach Lindy Ruff said Niedermayer had been attempting to play through the injury since first feeling discomfort during the preseason.

The Sabres host Pittsburgh on Wednesday, and could also be without center Tim Connolly, who left in the middle of practice because of a groin injury.
