ASPEN — Aspen Skiing Co. is extending its quest to bring environmentally friendly business practices to the dinner table. The company will serve grass-fed beef raised in neighboring Carbondale without hormones and antibiotics at its 10 on-mountain restaurants. Aspen Skiing says it will buy about 13,000 pounds of organic beef from Milagro Ranch during the ski season.

Jim Butchart of Aspen Skiing says the decision supports local agriculture, reduces vehicle miles and provides health benefits for customers. Milagro Ranch has been certified as a producer of humanely raised and humanely handled beef by the nonprofit Humane Farm Animal Care. Aspen Times
