FORT COLLINS, Colo.—South Korea’s ambassador to the United States has canceled a planned appearance in Colorado amid the escalation of tensions with North Korea.

Han Duk-soo, South Korea’s former prime minister, had been scheduled to speak at Colorado State University on Dec. 1. The school said Wednesday that his appearance has been canceled because of “recent events taking place on the Korean peninsula.”

Colorado State said the event was organized through the Washington, D.C.-based Korea Economic Institute and will likely be rescheduled.
