GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Grand Junction police are checking pumps at area gas stations after finding so-called “skimming” devices that obtain account information when people use debit or credit cards.

They’re urging people who’ve recently used credit or debit cards at gas stations to monitor their accounts.

Police say the devices were found inside three separate gas pumps, each at a different station. Police learned of the skimmers after a maintenance worker at a gas station in Fruita found one.

Police say they don’t know how the devices got inside the pumps or how long they have been there.

The police department says anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 241-STOP or send information to .
