Snow-sculpture challenge.
The third annual Breckenridge Snowflake Challenge will take place Dec. 5-11. The opening party will be Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Juding begins at 3 p.m. Dec. 11. Only designated sculpture sites will be judged. This event is open to anyone who wants to try their hands at sculpting snow. Sculptures will be on display along Main Street through the holidays.
Gingerbread contest.
The Palisade Olde Fashioned Christmas Gingerbread contest will take place Dec. 11. Entries will be accepted from 8 to 10 a.m., then the showcase will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Prizes as high as $200 will be awarded in five categories. Winners will be showcased Dec. 12-19 at the Wine Country Inn.
Winter Park festivities.
The festive spirit of the holidays takes over Winter Park from 3 to 7 p.m. Dec. 18. Free horse-drawn carriage tours of downtown will be available. Stroll along Cooper Creek Square and enjoy holiday music with the Dickens Carolers, adorned in elegant Victorian attire. Grab a hot cocoa or latte and visit with Santa by the fire. Or hear a storyteller reading a holiday classic.
12 Days of Aspen.
During the 12 Days of Aspen, Dec. 20-31, downtown Aspen becomes a winter wonderland of holiday cheer. Free ice skating, concerts and carolers, visits with Santa and his reindeer and entertainment for all ages lights up the streets of Aspen. For a full list of events visits:
