WRAY, Colo.—Spencer Cure threw two touchdowns Saturday, and third-seeded Burlington beat previously undefeated and top-seeded Wray 13-7 in the Class 1A state title game.

Burlington (12-1) took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter on Cure’s 31-yard pass to Coley David, who wrestled the ball from a Wray defender.

Wray (12-1) tied the game on Austin Willard’s 1-yard scoring run, which finished a 46-yard drive with 6:16 left in the third quarter.

David returned a Wray fumble 42 yards to set up the game-winning TD, a 19-yard scoring toss from Cure to Trenton Rico with 5:12 to play.

Burlington, which avenged its 21-14 loss to Wray in the regular season, has now won five straight playoff games against the school, including the 1998 2A title game.
