Donations have poured in to a motorcycle-riding group that lost about $5,000 Friday in a Walmart parking lot, money that was to have bought toys for needy kids.
Rich Martinez said an anonymous donor from Boulder gave $5,000 for the “Toyz in the Hood Run.” Others have been sending checks and donating toys as well.
The motorcycle group, Los Cochinos, plans to give the toys to needy kids in the Westwood neighborhood of Denver on Dec. 11.
Checks can be mailed to: Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez, 4200 Morrison Road, Unit No. 7, Denver, CO 80219, Attention: Toyz in the Hood Run. Checks should be made out to Servicios de la Raza, with “Toyz in the Hood Run” or “Los Cochinos” in the memo line.
Police are investigating who might have taken the money. The wife of a motorcycle-group member misplaced a money bag with the $5,000 in the store’s parking lot. When she returned, the bag was there but the money was gone. Carlos Illescas, The Denver Post
