As many shoppers turned their attention online Monday, federal authorities seized seven domain names registered in Colorado for allegedly selling counterfeit goods and illegal copies of copyrighted work.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced the seizures Monday as part of an ongoing effort called Operation in Our Sites v. 2.0.
Nationally, 82 domain names were seized after undercover federal agents purchased suspect goods from online retailers.
In Colorado, the websites , , , , , and were seized. On Monday, the homepage of each site said it had been confiscated by federal authorities.
Counterfeit goods offered by the sites included sporting equipment, shoes, handbags and sunglasses, as well as illegal copies of copyrighted DVD sets, music and software. Rita Wold, The Denver Post
