Cracker shells could be set off during the day starting Wednesday to scare geese off a Commerce City golf course.
The shells will be set off at the Buffalo Run Golf Course, 15700 E. 112th Ave., “randomly and as infrequently as possible,” according to a media release from the Commerce City Police Department.
City officials said a gaggle of geese has set up winter “residency” at the championship course and managers are concerned about the birds causing large-scale damage to the greens.
“The shells make a very loud noise and are designed to scare the geese from the area and not harm them,” the release said.
The golf course has a permit to fire the shells between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. starting Wednesday through March 28.
