Getting your player ready...

Carmelo Anthony spent Monday at his home, resting because of the flulike symptoms that forced him out of Sunday’s game. Anthony is day to day heading into Wednesday’s game against Milwaukee. He scored two points in three minutes against Phoenix. That dropped his average from 25.2 points to 23.8.

Rookie on rise.

Gary Forbes capitalized on Anthony’s absence Sunday against the Suns. He played 20 minutes, scored 15 points, grabbed three rebounds and had two assists. He averages 7.2 points.

“He’s pretty pure about what he’s doing,” Denver assistant coach Melvin Hunt said. “Especially young guys, as soon as a guy goes against being pure and comes up with agendas, they don’t play well. When Gary moves the ball freely, plays with a passion and a high energy, he gets results. He’s had his moments where he kind of drifted away from being pure, but then he came back.”
