DENVER—Colorado authorities say a bug exterminator is suspected of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in property from customers over nearly 30 years.
Police in La Plata County say Charles Trogdon (TROG’-duhn) was arrested Nov. 1 after a customer said she saw him open a nightstand from which money had been stolen.
Sheriff’s investigator Dan Patterson said Friday that other customers began calling to ask if Trogdon may have been responsible for property reported missing over the years. The missing items include cash, jewelry, power tools and a custom-made rifle.
Trogdon’s lawyer said he looks forward to bringing a “full and vigorous defense” to all the allegations. He also noted that many of Trogdon’s clients stand behind him.
