AVONDALE — A grass fire that started when someone tossed a lit cigarette out of a car burned a mobile home in Avondale, east of Pueblo, on Friday afternoon, said Pueblo County sheriff’s Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick.

The family in the mobile home that burned got out with no injuries.

The fire, first reported as a controlled burn that went out of control, threatened other structures.

Kilpatrick said conditions are extremely dry and people need to be careful.
