Fresh powder awaited, but skiers Saturday first had to endure miles and miles of creeping traffic in near- whiteout conditions to get to Colorado’s ski slopes.
Five to 8 inches of new powder fell overnight Friday and into Saturday near the Eisenhower Tunnel.
As much as 14 inches fell at Breckenridge. Copper Mountain and Vail each got 9 inches, said Jim Kalina, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder.
The snow will not make it into the Denver metro area, however, where temperatures will be in the 50s today and the 60s by Monday, he added.
