It’s a good time to be an athlete or fitness buff in Boulder, as a new proposal has emerged to construct a massive multi-sport training center in the city.

David Saintsing — a Boulder resident, doctor and amateur triathlete — is under contract to purchase 20.2 acres of land that make up McKenzie Junction just north of Foothills Parkway’s intersection with the Diagonal Highway in northeast Boulder.

Saintsing hopes to use the land to develop an estimated $30 million sports fitness center called Boulder Element.

He said the center would have a “slant toward the endurance athlete.”
