ASPEN, Colo.—Aspen police say a body found under a bridge is that of a Snowmass Village man missing since last month.

Police say the body was found Monday by off-duty members of Mountain Rescue who were following through on a pledge to continue looking for 28-year-old George Aldrich.

Aldrich’s body was found under the Maroon Creek Bridge near a bus stop where he was last seen on Nov. 27.

Police say there was no immediate indication of how the Snowmass ski lift operator died. An autopsy was planned Tuesday.

Aldrich was originally from Cranston, R.I. The Providence Journal reports that his father is the director of admissions at Providence’s La Salle Academy. The school issued a statement thanking everyone who supported the family during the search.
