FORT CARSON, Colo.—Colorado lawmakers are asking the Army to extend the public comment period for a plan to station up to 120 helicopters and 2,700 more soldiers at Fort Carson.

Democratic U.S. Sens. Mark Udall and Michael Bennet and Republican Rep. Doug Lamborn asked Tuesday for a “reasonable” extension. They didn’t suggest a new date.

The comment period is set to end Monday.

Lamborn’s spokeswoman, Catherine Mortenson, says the lawmakers are concerned that the initial notice of the comment period may have been incorrectly labeled.

The Army released a draft environmental impact statement last month saying the best locations for two proposed combat aviation brigades are Fort Carson and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
