Colorado Mines defensive end Marc Schiechl was named to the Daktronics All-America Division II first team, one day after he was runner-up for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the best lineman in D-II. Schiechl, a Bear Creek High School product, has accepted an invitation to play in the Cactus Bowl, an all-star game for Division II players, on Jan. 7 in Kingsville, Texas.

Mammoth goalie calls it a career.
Colorado Mammoth goaltender Curtis Palidwor announced he is retiring from professional lacrosse after 12 seasons.
Palidwor was limited to one game for the Mammoth last season because of an eye injury suffered in the first game. In 149 regular-season and postseason games, Palidwor made 4,290 saves and had a save percentage of .760. He also played for Toronto, Edmonton, New York and Calgary, with whom he won a National Lacrosse League championship in 2004.
“It’s been a great ride,” said the soon-to-be 38-year-old goalie. “I’ve played with some great teammates over the years and I’ll miss hanging out with those guys, but now I’ll have more time to spend with my family.”
Eagles trade for defenseman.

He has played in 142 games in the CHL and American Hockey League after a college career at Nebraska-Omaha.
Desmet had eight points and was a minus-2 in 17 games with the Eagles this season. Bradley, a rookie, had one point in 16 games.
