MONTROSE, Colo.—A Montrose lawyer has been appointed acting district attorney for six southwestern Colorado counties after the elected DA was indicted on charges of demanding sexual favors from women in his office.

The Montrose Daily Press reports that Dan Hotsenpiller, a former prosecutor, will serve as chief prosecutor for the 7th Judicial District.

The elected DA, Myrl Serra, was arrested in September on suspicion of extortion, indecent exposure, felony unlawful sexual contact and official misconduct.

One of Serra’s attorneys has said there is no physical evidence in the case.

The attorney general’s office had been in charge of 7th District prosecutors.

The district includes Delta, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel counties.
