A convicted serial rapist will serve multiple life terms in prison after sentencing in Denver District Court.
Byron Gay, 45, was previously convicted of multiple counts of kidnapping and sexual assault for crimes committed in 1993 and 1995. He was sentenced Friday to three consecutive life sentences, plus 384 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections. The cases remained unsolved until DNA evidence linked Gay to the attacks.
District Court Judge Shelley Gilman called the assaults the most brutal she had seen in her 13 years on the bench and said the multiple life sentences were richly deserved.
The victims and their families were present at the sentencing.
