Cold, gray weather has Denver socked-in this morning, where light snow has made roads slick in spots.
Slick driving conditions have contributed to several crashes in the Denver area during this morning’s rush hour, said Sgt. John Hahn, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
Slick conditions also contributed to multi-vehicle crashes early this morning near Pueblo in which a state trooper was injured.
The light snow in Denver was expected to taper off late morning , according to the National Weather Service. Cloudy skies over the city should start clearing out this afternoon and the high temperature is expected to top out at about 33 degrees.
Bands of light snow fell this morning from Boulder to Douglas County, but snow accumulations should be minimal. Still, drivers should be aware of icy spots, especially on bridges, the weather service warns.
Another wave of light snow is expected tonight in the mountains. Snow fall in the mountains should continue on-and-off through the weekend and it could be heavy at times west of the Continental Divide. Snow in the mountains east of the divide will be wind blown this weekend, the weather service said.
Denver’s weather on Saturday should be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 38 degrees. Sunday should be warmer in the city, with a high near 50.
