St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the site of such landmark occasions as Winston Churchill’s funeral and the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Di, is where Judy Fahrenkrog’s granddaughter, Heidi Foster, is being christened this month.
And of course she’ll be there for it.
Heidi is the daughter of Judy’s daughter, Joy, and Joy’s husband, Olympic rower Tim Foster. Their access to St. Paul’s comes with Tim being a member of the Order of the British Empire; it’s customary for Great Britain to knight subjects that have won Olympic gold. Tim and teammates Steve Redgrave, Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell, took gold at the Sydney Games in 2000 and were knighted the following year.
Tim and Joy began dating in 2000, when she was studying at the London School of Economics, but eventually parted ways. They met again at the 2008 Beijing Games and he basically proposed on the spot. The family now lives in Lucerne, where Tim is head coach of the Swiss national rowing squad.
Judy Fahrenkrog is a broker for Western Development Group’s North Creek development in Cherry Creek North.
A visit with Cloris.
Someone else with a fun trip to talk about is Will Labahn, who just returned from Los Angeles where he was Cloris Leachman’s guest on the set of the Fox sitcom, “Raising Hope.”
The Emmy-winning actress had donated the experience when she was here last spring for a reception to benefit restoration at the Historic Elitch Theater.
“I had a truly memorable time,” Labahn said. “Cloris is absorbed in her new role as Maw Maw, but she was gracious and welcoming, and as funny as could be. Everyone she introduced me to was genuinely interested in the Elitch Theater restoration project. Cloris said in more than one conversation that she is dedicated to helping us in Denver make the project a reality.”
An award for Kevin.
Kevin McNicholas has been named 2011 Friend of the National Western and will be honored at a Jan. 13 dinner hosted by the Red Meat Club.
The event is at the National Western Beef Palace Club, where McNicholas, owner of K-M Concessions, has operated the food service for the past 40 years.
The award is given annually to long-standing supporters of the National Western, many of whom make substantial behind-the-scenes contributions to the show’s success.
