If you’re a gambling type, you’ve probably already anteed up for Copper Mountain’s $99 Snow Day Pass. And in the first week, you’ve already hit the jackpot.

The new Snow Day Pass is a bit like powder insurance, since it kicks in only on days when it snows 4 inches or more. That ensures that every time you ski Copper Mountain, it’ll be a powder day. The nontransferable lift passes have been activated three times now since going on sale a week ago, already dropping lift rides to the bargain price of $33 a day.

And since the mountain averages 42 storms a year of 4 inches or more, skiing and snowboarding are only going to get cheaper as the winter continues. Blackout days don’t exist with the Snow Day Pass, and Copper is throwing in guaranteed snow days (with or without Mother Nature’s help) on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 6) and tax day (April 15). And a pair of friends and family tickets for $59 sweeten the pot. Copper will send pass holders Snow Day alerts via e-mail.
