Hurricane-force winds gusting to more than 80 mph Monday upended semis, caused scattered blackouts, broke windows and damaged roofs throughout Colorado Springs.
The on ramp at Colorado Highway 115 from South Academy Boulevard was blocked throughout the morning by a tractor-trailer truck that was blown over, according to the Stratmoor Hills Fire Department.
There also were reports of extensive property damage in the area. At the Country Club of Colorado, rocks flying through the air broke out the windows of several vehicles, said Brett Vanacore, the assistant golf professional. A Dumpster propelled by the wind smashed into a vehicle, he said.
