A fire in an empty single-family home in the 3400 block of South Hazel Court in Sheridan has been brought under control.
Tony Berumen, spokesman for the Denver Fire Department, said an off-duty Arapahoe County deputy saw smoke coming and alerted dispatchers.
Denver firefighters responded quickly and confined the fire to the attic of the home.
Berumen said Denver has an agreement with the city of Sheridan to provide fire protection.
