Evans and Loveland police are looking for a gunman wearing a Santa hat who is suspected of robbing a loan shop and two banks within a few hours on Monday.
The first robbery was at 9:18 a.m. at the EZ Payday Loan, 2526 8th Ave. in Garden City, south of Greeley. A man wearing a Santa hat and a Nike jacket pulled a gun on a clerk at the store and stole about $70 in cash.
Evans police spokeswoman Rita Wolf said in addition to the Santa hat, the man was wearing a black mask that had holes for his eyes, but didn’t show any other part of his face. He was also wearing a blue and white jacket, which had the Nike logo on the back.
At about 11 a.m., there was a robbery at the Western States Bank in Loveland, and then about 2 p.m., another robbery at the Chase Bank in Loveland. At the Chase Bank, police said the robber was wearing a Santa hat. The Western States Bank robber did not have a Santa hat but was wearing a blue and white Nike jacket.
