GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—An attorney for a western Colorado woman accused of setting fire to her apartment while her children and brother were there says she is seeking help for mental health problems.
Twenty-two-year-old Kayla Settle faces charges including arson, child abuse and false reporting in the Nov. 19 fire in Clifton. No injuries have been reported.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reports Settle is free on a personal recognizance bond.
At a hearing Thursday, defense attorney Gordon Gallagher said Settle is seeking help from the Colorado West Regional Mental Health Center.
An arrest affidavit says Settle first blamed the fire on a man in a ski mask and later said she was depressed and started the fire after smoking marijuana.
