CRAIG, Colo.—A community kitchen in Craig that’s not even a year old has served up a free holiday feast for nearly 60 shut-ins and as many as 200 people who showed up at St. Michael Catholic Church.
The Craig Daily Press reports that St. Michael’s Kitchen has grown from 35 diners when it opened late last year to as many as 150 at most meals.
The holiday dinner was Thursday.
Meals are served or delivered twice a week. Organizers say some people come out of need and others come for fellowship.
Donors provide food and cash. Contributors include City Market, Safeway and The Memorial Hospital.
4-H members, Moffat County High School clubs, the City Council, Chamber of Commerce, Girl Scouts, local sports teams and others pitch in to serve food.
