LONGMONT, Colo.—A Colorado charity says thieves stole $800 from its Longmont thrift store days before Christmas, but donors quickly made up for the loss.
HELP International, based in Loveland, said a safe containing the money was taken Tuesday from Hope’s Storehouse, its store in Longmont.
Jean Kaye-Wilson, CEO of the group, tells the Longmont Times-Call that it received one donation of $400 and several smaller ones,
HELP International’s website says it’s a Christian charity that arranges for used medical equipment and surplus supplies to be given to clinics in other countries.
Kaye-Wilson says HELP also gave holiday hams and gift baskets to local families, and donations after the theft increased a contribution to a Ugandan orphanage.
