The Colorado State Patrol has identified a 57-year-old Las Animas man as the victim of a fatal four-vehicle crash that shut northbound Interstate 25 about 2 miles south of the El Paso-Pueblo county border for more than three hours Wednesday night.

William Grissom was driving an 18-wheeler International tractor and semitrailer north on I-25 about 12 miles north of Pueblo when the crash happened shortly after 7:30 p.m., the patrol said.

A dual-axle flatbed trailer came loose from a southbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup, troopers said, and careened through the median of the interstate before hitting Grissom’s mail truck, which came to a rest in the median. The Gazette
