Mullen senior linebacker Leilon Willingham, who is regarded as the state’s top prospect, has extended an oral commitment to Texas A&M, according to .
Willingham, 6-feet-2 and 240 pounds, held other offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Colorado, Colorado State, Kansas State, Oregon, Utah, Washington and other schools. New CU coach Jon Embree made a home visit to Willingham two weeks ago.
Willingham has made official visits to Arizona State and Washington, but surprisingly he has not toured the Texas A&M campus. However, Willingham is a close friend of Aggies freshman Mister Jones, a former Littleton High School standout.
Willingham has scheduled an official visit to Texas A&M on Jan. 21, according to .
“We grew up together,” Willingham said of Jones. “We have been talking a lot about this decision. He was telling me that (going to Texas A&M) was one of the best decisions he has ever made.”
ranks Willingham as the top recruit in the state. Two other Mullen senior linebackers have given oral commitments: Brady Daigh (No. 3 among the state’s best, to Colorado) and Connor Healy (No. 14, to Air Force).
Oral commitments are non-binding. National signing day is Feb. 2.
