NORTHGLENN, Colo.—A police officer has been shot and wounded while trying to make an arrest in Northglenn.

Police say the suspect is now in a standoff with officers, who say they’ll enter the man’s home if he doesn’t surrender.

Northglenn Police Chief Russell Van Houten tells KUSA-TV that the officer has been taken to the hospital and that his injury isn’t life-threatening. He says officers were trying to arrest the suspect Monday night on allegations that he tried to lure a 13-year-old girl into sex.

Van Houten says the suspect opened fire on officers when they tried to arrest him.

No other injuries have been reported.
